The last thing you need is being “outted” as a “Prepper”. People will know that you have goods and supplies, giving you unneeded attention, especially if things go south. This is why we need to focus on Staying off the Radar!
Staying off the Radar
Preparedness and Self Sufficiency is a focus for many people, but what good is it to have a little bit put aside, for a rainy day, if someone knows about it? If someone knows about it, when times get tough, they’ll start thinking of ways that they can come get what you have!
It’s important to prep stealthily. It’s no one’s business what you buy, or what you have. How can you keep your prepping on the down low?
Shop someplace that your neighbors don’t shop, or someplace that you may not see them often. Unload your groceries when no one is outside, if possible.
Keep your extra food someplace not readily visible to friends or neighbors.
Buy your groceries with cash.
Don’t leave your Preps out in plain site. If someone does see your stuff, tell them you are preparing for a family camping trip, or a yard sale.

First rule of Fight Club is “You don’t talk about Fight Club”.
Whoops, I meant to say “First rule of Prepping is you don’t talk about Prepping!”.
Its nobody’s business but you, your family’s and your prepper associates. Keep it quiet.
Don’t do something stupid to out yourself, like writing a preparedness blog…..eeeerrrrrrrrrr. Yeah, Don’t do that! Do as I say, not as I do ;-)
If you have guns, you must practice to maintain proficiency. Transport your firearms covertly. That means don’t carry them in a gun case that looks like a gun case! See the Post: Covert Transport of Firearms
Many of these items involved keeping people from seeing your stuff.
How do I keeping people from seeing my stuff?
I don’t let neighbors or door to door solicitors in my house. I let family and very close friends in. That’s all.
If someone comes to my door, and if I open it to talk to them (after they’ve been properly vetted and scanned with an Ocular Pat-down via my security cameras), I will squeeze though the narrow space, that I’ve allowed the door to open, pulling it shut behind me, then talk to them outside on the porch!
Also be aware of what is in the background of any photos you post online. It’d be a shame for someone to see a huge stockpile of food, medicine and ammo in your sexy selfie!
You don’t have to go to great lengths when staying off the radar, just use your head and some simple stealth and opsec!
