where's the ammunition  Not to long ago, it was nearly impossible to find ammo, regardless of the type of firearms you had. People were scared and there was much mass buying and hoarding was occurring. This led many people to ask "where's the ammunition?"

Ammunition has tripled in price over the last decade but its still flying off the shelves. Where is it all going? In addition to sportsmen and firearms enthusiasts, some government agencies are stocking up too.   Who's buying the Ammo? Here are some of the agencies buying ammo, and for some agencies, it makes sense that they'd be buying ammo, but this much ammo (more than the military used in Iraq and Afghanistan). Some of these other agencies make me wonder why they are buying ammo at all. I'm not going to go to far into this part, as you've heard about it and you can find a million stories and articles about this online. I will just post a few that stand out in my mind, to make a point. Here are some purchases that are concerning:
  • 450,000,000 of .40-caliber hollow point bullets
  • Another solicitation asking for a further 750 million rounds of assorted bullets, including 357 mag rounds (rounds that are able to penetrate walls)
  • 56,000 rounds of .40 caliber 180 grain jacketed hollow points (in 2012 - 46,000 rounds of .40 caliber 180 grain jacketed hollow points)
  • 16,000 rounds of .40 caliber frangible lead free rounds

  • 174,000 rounds of 357 Sig 125 grain bonded jacketed hollow point pistol ammunition
  • 27 Remington Model 870 pump-action shotguns with 14-inch modified choke barrels (the legal minimum length for private citizens is 18 inches without a special license). These shotguns are to be fitted with Wilson Combat ghost ring rear sights, Knoxx adjustable stocks and Speedfeed fore-ends. 2012 2 X $13,000 MagFed 20mm rifles

That's a lot of ammo. No wonder we can't get ours, the manufacturers have to burn the midnight oil, just to fill these contracts.
